More information On the feline BURMESE Breed.

Burmese (We only do Traditional!)

The Burmese was developed in the United States in the 1930's by Dr. Joseph Thompson from his little brown female from Burma, Wong Mau. Wong Mau was equivalent to the Tonkinese. The solid sable (brown) kittens were kept for the breeding program. The Burmese is a medium size cat with a short,, solid and almost cobby body with short, fine, glossy close lying coat. They have sweet dispositions, are smart, love to play and to cuddle. Although prone to upper respiratory diseases as kittens they are generally strong, healthy cats. Some lines of Burmese carry the "twinning" head defect. These lines are called "contemporary". Lines without contemporary cats in their pedigrees are considered to be "traditional".
