More information On the feline ABYSSINIAN Breed.
Abyssinian
The Abyssinian resembles the Egyptian cats who were models for the images of the famous goddess Bast (the Sacred Cat of Egypt). Many theorists believe that the Abyssinian breed, as we know it today, developed as a result of selective breeding efforts by feline enthusiasts in England. British Domestic Short hairs, together with imported cats, were the foundation of these breeding programs, and through years of experimentation, breeders were able to perfect the Aby type that they were desperately trying to achieve.
They are very affectionate, active, athletic and very intelligent.
They come in four colors - Ruddy, Red, Fawn & Blue. Each hair
shaft will have several bands of color (ticking) which gives their
coat a wild look similar to deer, squirrels and wild rabbits. They
resemble mini cougars. Abys of any age make wonderful companions.
They combine a uniquely wild appearance with a loving and gentle
personality. Abys truly are "people pleasing feline cougars". ![]()
